KIDS NEIGHBORHOOD INITIATIVE

Kid’s Neighborhood Initiative (KNI) was created in 2021 by Elizabeth Meg Williams to meet the needs of under-served and refugee kids and families in her west side Buffalo neighborhood.

The premise of Kid’s Neighborhood Initiative is that relationships and informal associations (i.e. block clubs) are best equipped to connect families with existing resources in the community. This is especially true when programming is geared toward school aged children, which engages both youth and families in community development.

A kid’s neighborhood is one where every child is known by multiple adults and where the majority of our needs are met by our neighbors - people we know and with whom we share space regularly.
